Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.
  2. Once the butter is melted, add the QUeen Milling Gluten Free All Purpose Flour Blend  flour and whisk continuously for 1-2 minutes until smooth.
  3. Slowly pour the milk into the pan while continuing to whisk until the milk is well incorporated.
  4. Continue whisking and cooking for another 2-3 minutes. The sauce should be smooth and lump-free. If the sauce feels too thick, you can add a small amount of milk to thin it.
  5. Remove from the heat and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg to taste.
  6. The sauce will continue to thicken off the heat. Use immediately or store in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. To prevent a skin from forming, press plastic wrap directly against the surface of the sauce.
