Gluten Free Basic Béchamel Sauce

Use QUeen Milling All Purpose Gluten Free Flour Blend (Fine) in this recipe. This Classic Gluten Free Bechamel Sauce is gluten free umami!

 

Required Ingredients

 

QUeen Milling Flour: QUeen Milling All Purpose Gluten Free Flour Blend (Fine)

 

Additional Dry Ingredients: salt, pepper and nutmeg

 

Wet Ingredients: whole milk, butter

This simple Gluten Free Classic Bechamel Sauce is easy to make! It adds a classic and sophisticated touch to any meal.

 

It is:

●      Smooth and creamy

●      Enhances the flavor of other ingredients

●      Adds elegance to every day dishes

 

 

Recipe:

●      1 cup whole milk

●      2 Tbsp Butter

●      2 Tbsp QUeen Milling All Purpose Gluten Free Flour Blend (Fine)

●      Salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste.

Step 1:

●      In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.

 

Step 2:

●      Once the butter is melted add the flour and whisk continuously until smooth. This will take about 1- 2 minutes. 

 

●      Continue whisking the sauce and slowly pour the milk into the pan. YOU MUST continue to whisk until the milk is well incorporated. 

 

●      Continue whisking and cooking for another 2-3 minutes. The sauce should be smooth and lump free. Add a small amount of milk to thin the sauce if required.

 

●      Remove from heat and season to taste.

 

Step 3:

●      If the sauce feels too thick you can add more milk.

 

●      The sauce will continue to thicken off of heat.

 

Step 4:

●      Use immediately

 OR

●      Store in refrigerator for 2-3 days.  Press plastic film against the mixture to prevent skin forming.

 

●      Bechamel sauce can also be stored in the freezer.
